Hi all, who are the worst Mercedes dealers, I nominate Ashford in Kent they are complete rubbish. I went in today for some parts and had to wait 20 mins before the parts man came out, his excuse was that he had been on the phone. I pointed out that none of the other 10 or so staff had offered any help, as they were too busy having little chats and walking about trying not to be noticed.

It's no wonder Mercedes has a bad reputation.

I also went into Renault in Ashford and they could not be more helpful.

happens in liverpool as well.
Sometimes i go in for parts, takes 1 min. sometimes it takes 30mins but i will not say that is enough to make them the worst.
A lot goes on in the dealership than just parts supply.

I mean the one here has some really fit people on the reception so that is a good start.

Perhaps there is a Gym nearby.............:D

:D I visited my parents recently and I also noticed that when I went into Mercedes Liverpool a couple of weekends ago. Couldn't have been more helpful or pretty (the receptionists that is...)

Pretty and fit?????:bannana:

Belfast is such a boring place!!!!:( :(

Seriously there are lots of pretty fit (we call them babes over here) girls in the Belfast dealership but none in parts though:(

Will have to pop into Belfast some time then, I love an Irish accent :D The soft scouse accent is quite nice too...

Worst dealer I've ever come across is a Peugeot dealer.
1st service on a 106. Drain engine & gearbox oil. Refill engine.

4 months, 5th gearbox, 3rd flywheel, 2nd starter motor and it wouldn't start if it was less than 10C. Never did find out if the 5th gearbox worked properly, Peugeot (not the dealer) bought the car back.

Some of the girls that work in admin in Warrington aren't too bad either. Liverpool and Warrington used to be part of the same MB group until they got taken over and then they split into two separate garages. I've found that parts from Warrington, although it is a bit of a trek, they seem to offer more of a discount and are more inclined to help. I got my looms for my electric seats from there and the guy said that if there was a problem he would take them back and refund the money. Thankfully I didnt need to take them back.

I'd much rather deal with Warrington parts department over Liverpool (no offence recycled) for speed of delivery. For eye candy I'd definitely go to Liverpool

At the risk of starting a new thread...

So far, Liverpool & Belfast have nice looking receptionists :D

Anyway, back to the topic, Greenoaks used to get a bad review frequently. I've bought one car from them (Slough) and had a nightmare once with a warranty repair job. A call to MB Customer Care Europe sorted that out swiftly.

Other than that the dealings I've had with Ascot (part of the same group) have been great.

Tried Desira Alfa in West London once - they were absolutely useless with parts information but more than helpful with confirming the service history on a vehicle we were looking at buying.

Saying that though its not just MB dealers. My brother is on the verge of venturing to the dark side (Jaguar/BMW/Audi ptu ptu ....... ) so we went into 3 dealerships to look at different cars, one of them being a Jaguar dealership.

My brother wasn't sure at the time whether he wanted the X-type or to go for the XK (but will need more saving)..... The main sales person got quite miffed that he couldn't make his mind up and started talking to him like he'd stolen from the guy or something.

I think it's not only the make of the car but also the behaviour of staff within the dealership that gets and retains customers.

I remember when my mum got her car from Road Range Liverpool when it was on the Pier head and she got a bunch of flowers and the sales people made it almost a special occasion. I also remember that the mechanics were willing to come pick up the car from my parent's house when there was a problem and drop it back off and all without extra cost.

Now everything is about meeting targets and personalised service goes out of the window in some garages. Politeness costs nothing.

when it was in pier head, i spent most of my time looking across at the other garage.( if you know what i mean). much to the annoyance of the missus

It was nice, because you could park your car outside MB and go and get a test drive 'with the intention to buy' ;) of course in a Porsche...

Because customers used to be familiar with staff they used to do that, but then some toerag nicked some cars after test driving them and they stopped it.

I would like to nominate Stratstone Preston as the worst dealer. I went in on a sunday a few weeks back to look at an ML. The salestaff couldn't give a stuff when I walked in, I would say that were not just failing to be attentive, they just weren't interested! They were also all really young (as in 20's) spiv looking blokes. Maybe that is not being entirely fair to them but that is the impression they made. When I got someones attention, their product knowledge was non-existant and when i asked if they could open the boot of the showroom ML i got a ' sorry, battery is flat and the workshop is closed, could you come back in the week'! Whe I asked about an extended test drive (on my own) I was told 'no, sorry, it is company policy not to do that'. So they want me to spend £40K after just 20 minutes in the car sat next to a spiv!

needless to say I made contact with the next closest dealership in Ulverston, South Lakes. So far they have been miles better! The service I get from my local BMW dealer is fantastic and would be hard to beat anywhere in my opinion.

Ulverstone and Preston are the same dealer, Stratstone. I never ever have a problem at Preston. I will copy your comments and pass them on to the Principal tomorrow. I know action will be taken.

I realise they are both part of the same group (Stratstone). In the defence of Preston, if you are going to talk to the dealer principal, the salesman I spoke to on the phone a few days prior (their motability specialist) was very good and knowledgable (i think his name was Ian - can't swear to it). He wasn't there on the Sunday I called in, things may have been different if he was. When I was there in person it was service well below what I expected from MB, it was is it was 'just a sunday' and 'we' can't be bothered. It wasn't as if I was a scruffy individual, I pulled up in my brand spanker BMW and was with my wheelchair bound son.

I am seriously looking at the GL now, and that could well have lost them a sale.

So what's a spiv bloke then? Did he look like this?

Thinking about it maybe 'wideboy' is a better, more contemporary, expression! :D
