I've had a number of cars through my hands over the last few weeks, but none of them Mercedes:o
This week I was in a Porsche. It gave the figures below. So what was it???:dk:

Caymane Diesal (the jeep like your pic) or the pararama again diesal.

Probably both spelt wrong?

Well... you are right about your spelling and right again that it was indeed a 'wood burner'...;)

Panamera or Cayenne .. I suspect it's the Panamera

rendered.jpg

    • 184 kW (250 hp) at 3,800 rpm
    • 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 s
    • Top speed: 242 km/h (150 mph)
    • Combined: 6.5 l/100 km (43.5 mpg)*

Mactech - I like your posts. You consistently make a mockery of the OEM's claimed fuel consumption figures.............

..........they're clearly far too easy to obtain.

47mpg in rush hour traffic, that'll be the Radio 2 effect. :)

Keep up the good work.

Panamera diesel would do that. VAG 3.0TDi V6 in there driving through a ZF automatic. However all us not green on Audi forums, that V6 throws wobblers like the merc one and more prematurely.

What was it like to drive? They are very ugly but I am guessing very capable cars

They're fecking huge. I know it's a luxury car but it's sold as a sporting product. It should be smaller IMHO

I guess they are positioning it as a GT so will be targeting maserati gransport/ Aston DB9 or rapide / 12 cylinder ferrari market all of which are sizeable cars too. Not that any of those come in diesel format (yet)

Well it was actually a Diesel Cayenne:eek:
It did rather better than the makers claim and about 10mpg better than I would get in my comparable ML320CDI.
Last year I took a new X3 BMW 2 litre 4 cyl to France and it struggled to get 40mpg, well below the makers claim of 50!
I didn't drive any differently, so I'm very impressed with the Porsche given I get 23mpg (at best) in a car based around a 4.8 Turbo Cayenne.....:dk:
Some cars have good test results, some have good results in the real world;)

I'm still not sure one way or the other on the Panny. Not a fan of the Cayenne at all but that might be due to having to deliver to the stay at home blonde owners in Essex for a few years. Clueless, hot, clueless, sexy, clueless. I say clueless ignoring the fact that they all seemed to have landed ugly rich men, so they got one bit right. Just not the car choice ;)

How does the car fare brim to brim. Basic physics, that average speed (Unless there was a lot of downhill sections of your run) defies logic as its quite a wide tall car so I'm very surprised its given near diesel C class economy.

Well Coventry to London must be downhill, 'cos it's south...
Didn't get to do a brim to brim, but filled a half empty 100L tank with 50 litres so it's going to be somewhere close.
I just think Porsche have done a really good job with all the elements that make up economy....despite starting with an SUV.
The X3 BMW seemed laboured with its 4 pot engine despite the figures which they get on the official test rig. Those figures have no aerodynamic loads.
We have air in the real world!:D

Yep engine not good on reliability, too stressed IMHO and rough as an Aberdeen hooker :D Although don't know if there were any tweaks before they put it in the Porker ???
