Would just 1 recaro CSE look stupid?

I know of a breaker who has 2 drivers side Recaro CSE's, one in navy leather the other in navy cloth. I could buy both but only afford to get one re-trimmed in cream leather, would it be silly to just put one in the car for now and hope to come across a passenger side at a later date?

The best thing for you would be to sit tight with one & sell the other to recoup some (or all) of the cost & wait untill a passenger one comes up for sale..... Trouble is when on the lookout for something it takes forever for something to turn up.

A year or two back there was a driver side one for sale on its own on ebay.... So you never know.... but DO NOT retrim one on its own!!!

Im not sure how much it matters that they are both drivers side... its only the switches that are on the wrong side and these seats unbolt into a million pieces.. so i bet the switches could be transferred..

yes come to think of it, a good trimmer might be be able to remove the switches from one bolster and cut a hole in the other bolster & fit them there and fill the old hole in the other bolster with expanding foam or something similar....

Are the switches for the same range of movements controlled by the standard door switches ?

It would take a little bit of pondering over circuit diagrams , but surely not impossible to wire up to existing switches ( even using relays out of standard Merc seats to control equivalent Recaro motors ) ?

Then you could just blank off the holes where the switches are in the Recaros if getting them retrimmed ?

Back to the seats,

The cloth seat has the electric ventilation which the leather one doesnt, the switch and fans arent there but the loom is i might put a couple of computer fans in.

Hooked them up to a 12 volt drill battery and everything works as it should.

Took the leather one apart this evening to have a look at swapping the switch consol to the other side, it wont be easy as they sit in a bracket welded on to the frame. A bit of cut, grind, weld and it should be fine.
