Hello

From my other thread about my car battery becoming flat as I don't use it very often would this work?

12v Solar Panel Car Boat Van Battery Trickle Charger on eBay (end time 14-Apr-11 07:49:17 BST)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Watt-12v-Vo...10619973547?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item19c176d7ab

The car is parked in a Lean to at the side of the house so this could attach to the roof quite easily?

Or would I be better with this.

CTEK XS3600 Car Battery Charger on eBay (end time 09-Apr-11 15:41:52 BST)

And while I'm asking should I attach either of these to the Battery in the boot or the terminals (which I havn't found yet) in the front bonnet?

Car is a W211 E class Estate 320cdi

thanks

Go the tried and trusted CTEk route - these cheap Solar chargers are nigh on useless from my experience.

I've had a couple of the small dash board top solar screens and neither were capable of maintaining the battery level when the car has been left for more than a week. I now have a Draper charger that just trickle charges enough to cover alarm etc Not a full size charger more the size of a mains transformer you get with the printer etc. Fits easily into engine space and designed specifically for cars that are left for long periods (cannot tell you the model 'cos I'm away from the car now !)

That looks like the Lidl model with a different set of stickers. got the Lidl one and its ok

The solar chargers will not recharge a battery. They will keep a charged battery topped up whilst the car is not used but that is all. We use a Ring solar panel on the 124 when its left in Italy and it keeps it topped up nicely.

I would look at a regular battery charger with trickle and automatic functions.

The Ctek won't take a completely flat battery back to charged, will it, it's for constant charging of a good battery.

Cheaper way to get Ctek

Buy RAC Smart Car Battery Charger at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Car battery chargers.

The CTEK will take a completely flat battery and charge it. It comes with various modes - the Xs3600 has three whereas the next model up the XS7000 has many more. The CTEKs are far superior to traditional battery chargers. Brilliant piece of kit

Agree with all of this. I have had the CTEK for several years.

What does it do different other than pulse conditioning?

The RAC version from Argos is the same thing but cheaper.

My standard size regular charger also does pulse charging and conditioning. Not sure what a Ctek can achieve above that?
