Forgive me if this has been raised before but i am looking to upgrade my headlights to HID's on my CLK '99. Is this quite a straightforward operation or will it require significant re-wiring?
I have done this mod using a HID conversion kit (not an MB product) - it's very easy and ives a massive improvement to headlight performance. beam pattern is unchanged, so no MOT problems. Fitting the HID system does not involve butchering your wiring loom so the original lamps can be re-fitted in seconds if you want to remove the HID kit and transfer it to another car.
I have a spare brand new HID kit including Hella ballast units. I bought this for my 'winter car' but it uses H4 bulbs rather than H7, so it cannot be fitted. PM me if you are interested in buying.
