Hello people, I've been absent for a while, busy with work & home projects but caught up yesterday with a few of the recent watch threads.

I have a big birthday in the next couple of weeks and thought that a nice watch might mark the occasion.

My current watches are a cheap disposible plastic casio for building site use & a titanium Pulsar Solar for "best". I quite like the size (just under 40mm dia + crown) and weight of the Pulsar.

Budget for the new watch is probably up to £500 and I thought I would like a Tag.

I'm not bothered by lots of dials and would probably prefer a relatively plain face.
I prefer waterproof with a metal bracelet as I'm usually too lazy to remove it for swimming in summer hols!

I considered perhaps a vintage watch from the year of my birth but on viewing some of these I'm not that excited by them.

I don't know a lot about watches and would welcome your suggestions. I'm flexible on new or used. Ideally though it would be a good quality, well made watch to last the rest of my life!

Comments invited.......................

I would look at a secondhand swiss reasonable quality watch at that figure, Maybe a Tudor or a Rado perhaps as a better long term investment , otherwise you will be duplicating what you already have in the Pulsar. Although the recent Gold prices may have affected values of decent used pieces? A new £500 watch isnt really going to be much better than a £60 one IMHO
