MB not the only make to have problems

Just a note to say that my Audi RS6 is at the dealership again for some more warranty work. Another shock absorber to be renewed, and the lumbar adjustment pump in the driver's seat has stopped working. So Mercedes is not the only manufacturer to have quality problems....... On a lighter...

    Good dealer experience

On a positive note, I have just had good experience with my local MB dealer, John Weir in Perth. I went round to get some warranty issues sorted out and spoke to Lynn at the service desk. Even though apparently MB do no longer replace headlights with water ingress under warranty, Lynn sorted the...

    MB Star

I am in the process of renewing various diagnostic machines in my garage. This means that I am about to purchase a fresh laptop based Star system complete with all cables, multiplexer, WIS/DAS software and all the car updates to 05/2006. If I buy a few of them the price will come down from...

Finally, I have purchased a digital camera and tried to learn how to use it. My retired S500 looks quite good in the pictures, I think.

    injectors & Coca Cola

Hi, I thought I would share a bit of useless experience. The last 2 CDIs injector replacements we have done both had the injectors stuck in the head. Rather than taking the chance of them breaking in the head I let them soak in Coca Cola overnight. Came out no problem after that! I...

    MB to stop SBC?

I just heard in Germany that MB is to stop the SBC system on the E class and CLS because of too many failures. The CLS will get the new S class braking system next June. Anyone know if this is correct? Cheers Job

    aquired old W140 500

Hi, I am back into MB ownership again! A business partner of mine runs the chauffeur/wedding car hire business. He asked me to check over the fleet of W140s, W220s and Vito/Vianos. After checking and driving all of them I came to the conclusion that the old W140 (1994) 500 drove better...

    How come?

How come fuel prices are going up in Britain but going down just across the water in Holland (reduced by 3.4 eurocent yesterday). The tax regime is very similar in both countries. I don't understand but I could just be a plank. Anyone have any idea? regards, Job

    free fuel

Apparently customers now get a free tank of fuel when a 'technical enhancement' (software updates etc.) is done on their cars. Make sure your tank is empty when this gets done. regards, Job

How to get a small fortune.

Start of with a large one and buy a ML :-) . After this month's failures of another rear spring and a worn steering collumb bush, the inlet manifold has developed a leak through the lever seals. Can't buy the seals from MB so supposedly requires new manifold. As well as being a pig of a job...

    W210 wheelbolts

Sorry, but I have to vent a bit. Another W210 on a ramp b*ggering up the workshop planning! We see this so often! Original wheelbolts overtight and no grease. They break between the head and abutment! There seems to be nothing we can do to avoid it. It takes forever to drill them out...

    ML uprated rear swaybar

Hi, I had an uprated rear swaybar (anti-rollbar) made for the ML by Whiteline in Australia. It will now be available as a normal product from August. It will come as a complete kit incl. bushes etc. Should only cost about £120. About 20 min to fit. It makes a huge difference to the...

    CDi Turbo failures?

Hi all, Is anyone seeing more and more turbo failures on 270 and 320CDis? We are replacing quite a few in our workshop now. The reason for posting is that I can't see a real pattern to come to a conclusion why the turbos are failing. Oil quality and mileage do not seem to make any odds...
