I don't think we're having a good run of luck with the ML270 this week.
Now we have grinding/moaning/mild howling noises coming from somewhere up front. It's road speed related, not engine speed related. Location is very hard to pick, but most likely front drive. It sounds a...
Just a quick one...
Is it considered safe to to put the car on four axle stands, one under each rubber jack point?
I have two trolley jacks and a total of 8 axle stands kicking about. I just want to check my method seems ok on the W202..
1. Jack up the front using the cross member type...
I have a complete rear axle base for the W124 which will fit saloon's, coupes and estates.
The whole kit has been shotblasted and sprayed.
I bought this set for the use of my on going project but decided i wanted to go brand new instead which is the reason for sale.
The kit:

I have a friend who have a Pagoda SL, W113. He has changed the rear axle on it, from 4.08:1 to 3.69:1. He also says that it might have gotten a rear axle with 3.69:1.
I do not know how the W113 get the "signal" to speedometer, but I guess it is from the gear box, and then the speedometer...
Hi, new to SLK and want to change front pads. has anyone got any picture of where to jack the car up to place axle stands on the jacking points, or other way around
Hi guys I am having difficulty figuring out how to jack up the c220 2010 blue eff sport and put it on axle stands.
Can someone guide me on how to do it. Where do i put the trolley and where do i put the axle jacks.
Purpose is to do my first routine oil change by removing from sump.
As above, are there any specific points to place axle stands? Obviously can't use the jack points on the sills, but can't see anywhere else obvious to use (looked at the bottom of the spring cup/suspension arm, but doesn't look safe).
Newbie question.......
I've had a CLK A209 for a number of months now and there has been a slight vibration through the steering, enough to know that it shouldn't be there. There was a slight 12-6 movement on both front wheels and so far I have replaced the bearings on the offside (yet to do the...
Hi all, I have a w209, and was trying to find a place to put axle stands.. It seems on most of the jobs I need to do requires the wheels off. And not having a car ramp seems to be a problem.
Any ideas?

I have two option here:
Option 1: I can get 2 michelin Pilot HX tires on the rear axle but, there is always a but, one spanking new and the other with only 4mm thread left... would that change the way the car react? Or,
Option 2: 1 spanking new Michelin...
Hi everyone.
I bought few months ago a W203. This week I decided fix a noise in the rear wheel. What was my surprise when I saw the rear Axle and Rear Brake Dust Shield. They are full of rust:crazy:. So I'll need some help:
1- I was thinking in change all Axle (+- £ 150 on ebay). Anyone...
Hi, I am getting a wine from the axle at about 70-80, when you come off the power it is less.
I will change the oil first to see if it helps, no leaks and all clean, just done 40k.
Question is what oil and quantity?
is it possible to get the CV joints out of alignment by being a lazy sod and jacking it off the deck under the diff?
Was looking at the rear calipers (they're sticky) and after putting it back together and letting it down, it now sounds like a blacksmith's shop when in reverse (although not...
I have been stumped by some noise coming from the front end for a few weeks now.
Yesterday I had both front bottom ball joints on each rear track control arm renewed, plus both front wheel bearings.
This has eliminated the slight knocking from the front (ball joints) and significantly reduced...
I've had my car for over a year now and I have noticed a strange smell coming from the rear axle. It is like overheated oil (slightly burnt smell!?!?). Most of my driving is typical urban driving.
Also, there seems to be a grumbling noise coming from the rear of the car. Fairly faint, such...
