Finally decided to replace the nearside front wheel after about 8 months of annoying vibration in the steering wheel. I hit a pothole a couple of months after buying my car and I thought it had knocked it out of balance. I got sick of it after a month or two though and took it into "Ken the tyre...
It was the nearside spring. When I eventually managed to remove the trim it turned out it was the bracket attaching the spring to the lid that had failed rather than the spring itself.
I noticed that on the remaining bracket there were still some holes. Could I attach the spring to those...
Coming down the slip road to the A1 - huge bang from front drivers side. Wheel dropped into the arch - not really driveable (especially as I'm 200 miles from home). Waiting for the AA.
Bought the car from MB main dealer 4 months ago - are springs covered under mb used warranties?
I left work last night and headed up the dual carriageway towards East Kilbride in torrential rain . Because of the weather conditions my speed was nowhere near the 60 mph limit allowed on the dual carriageway - just as well !
As I came over a hill crest and rounded a left hand bend , I saw...
Hi all,
Heres a puzzler for you, I've got a E220cdi estate 04 reg with 98k on the clock,and I've just bought a E280 sport 06
So the estate has been sitting on the drive for a few weeks, earlier on I heard a bang and the alarms sets off on the car.
On investigation the front of the car has...
After a journey of approximately 12 feet, reversing off my drive, there was a big loud bang, accompanied by a sudden drop of the o/s front end. I know a failed coil spring when I see/hear one.
So - what's the damage to the wallet likely to be? I assume that it is folly to replace only the one...
New member so any thoughts appreciated on this....
Here is my sorry tale.
Was driving my 300 TD Estate after visiting KFC (I know bad for me, but as it turns out bad for the car as well). I'd put a large container of Coke on the glovebox cup holder and it seemed secure - however a sharp turn...
3 months out of warranty the CVT box on sister-in-law's B200CDI has gone bang. The question is how much goodwill should be expected from Mercedes? 75%? More?
Leaving my drive at the weekend in my W209 Cabriolet there was a huge, and I mean huge, bang from the rear end. Inspected the car but there did not appear to be anything wrong.
I now get an occasional knock on bumpy roads but in every other respect everything seems OK.
Obviously something...
I have had the car approx one working day..
It was like a cracking/jarring etc.
At first i thought it was the 19's rubbing up against the walls of my cars or something. It sounded horrible, like the tyres were shredding. Coming from both sides.
I actually slowed to a crawled on a dual...
Ok, Ok, I know I am a first classs idiot - I have just replaced the battery and attached the -ve connection first (which resulted in a fairly loud bang!)
I now have no electrics at all ............. any ideas where I start to put this right (once I replace with yet another new battery)...

Its in a Merc specialist nearby and will be investigated in the morning.
