Has anyone used SWAG Bearings?
I have dug a bit and it appears that febi use SWAG as their supplier for bearings, if so Swag should prove reliable and cost effective.
Seem to be getting a slight humming noise from the front area at high speeds on motorways, It's not the road surfaces as it is there all the time but as I say only seem to hear it at high speeds, could this be the wheel bearings on there way out?, anyone know what's involved changing them, worth...
This came up as an MOT advisory. As I understand it the solution may be simply to tighten them up. Is this an easy thing to do? Otherwise, what might be the cause?
hi
it appears my new W124 estate has duff rear wheel bearings. a big :( :( :(
anyway, looking at this "how to" here:

it looks reasonably straight forward to remove it all and take it to a garage to press in the...
Dear Techies,
I feel like i'm on a bit of roll so I'm trying to solve another problem with my trusty VW.
The car recently developed a very audible background whirring noise while the car is moving, it also pulls to one side. Alignment I thought - turned out to be fine.
It pulls to the left...
I have a Ford Focus that has done 75k miles however is in good condition.
The car was recently rear ended causing 3,000 opounds worth of damage. When I got the car back from the repair shop I noticed the whirring sound of rear bearing failure.
Could this have been caused by the accident?
There...

I am adjusting the front wheel bearings. The usual method is to slacken of the allen bolt and then adjust the retaining nut finger tight.
What is finger tight? Is it until a light touch tightens the nut or a reasonably firm twist?
Thanks.
Just blown £500 on new shocks and discs all round on my S320 on the advice of the local steering specialist (front shocks are definitely leaking anyway), he said there was a bit of play in the front bearings too, was wondering if these cars had tapered bearings that could be nipped up a bit to...
Hi All
I am planning to bite the bullet in the next week and finally change my rear wheel bearings as on has been making a humming sound for a while.
I was hoping to do the job myself as I am quite competent as a home mechanic.
Is there any special tools needed that may stop me doing this...
My 124 Estate is approaching 200K and there is quite a noise coming from the rear wheel bearings - replaced the front ones about 7 months ago.
From what I can gather this is quite a major job. Is this so?
Any previous experience greatly welcomed.
Cheers.
Tim

Although my car passed it's recent MOT there was an advisory that both front wheel bearings had slight play.Question is,how long(if at all)is it likely to be before they need replacing & what is the cost likely to be?(clk320 w208 cab 2002)
Here we got, today was the new bearings fitted at the front and while we were at it new brake pad, look at the difference new and old, I think it was about time and new disc, the older one were groovy....
