This is a stonker of a first post, so please bear with me. Despite their fearsome reputation I rather like the looks of the W210 saloon, and I'm especially fond of the OM606 turbodiesel. So I'm thinking about trying to get a 300TD W210 in a few months, preferably under 150k with MB...
Either way, I guess its too late.
We have just added a E500 W211 to our driveway to sit alongside a R230 SL500.
These are our ONLY cars........ The E is a posh doggie carrier, and the SL a toy.
Fun times ahead? The SL has already had the fuel tank done, a PSE and is having a ABC shocker...
Bought a tatty 2002 Vito 108cdi to do one job and then pass it on to someone else. Drove ok for first 100 miles, except for (only) key snapping 50 miles from home and needing replacement (by mobile service).
Completed journey ok.
Next day no starter on key-turn. All dash lights come on...
My wifes CLK 230K is locked on our drive minus the battery ready for winter coverup but I cannot open the boot. The metal key insert in our spare key opens the drivers door and fits into the boot lock but does not turn, Can anybody tell me how to get the boot open please !
I'm looking for a family estate car, having been told by my wife to grow up and buy a proper car that will accommodate her, our daughter, our dog some luggage and a kayak on the roof now and again.

Money wise, I can certainly afford...
Last night (or more correctly early this morning) I travelled from Milton Keynes to Surrey via M1/M25, the majority the journey being subject to 50mph limit enforced by average speed cameras through roadworks.
Nobody working of course and not much traffic, so ho hum, cruise control on...

When driving at slow speeds over uneven ground i get a rattle/vibration from something that is hitting bodywork somewhere, whatever it is seems like probably is fairly heavy from the noise it makes. I can feel it through the back seat if i put my hand on it, it doesnt seem like its inside the...

Norwegian Peter Olenick hurtled down a 300ft escalator at Angel station in north London in a filmed display which was shown on the internet.

I'm posting this for the benefit of Ian as I mentioned it when we were talking about performance diesels last night.
The rest of the vids can be seen here:
Somehow it makes perfect sense (running costs, reliability, service, tourer=family space, spec etc)
But on the other I'm losing a S500 AMG wheels, 0-60 in just over 6 seconds...
Need a reality check before its too late!
I'd have to say good second hand buy.
My mate has just bought an 04 reg Phaeton V10 5 litre diesel. Went out for a ride in it, and I have to say it is the most phenomenal car I have ever been in. Miles better build quality than any mercedes I have seen, every electrical gizmo you could...
Just been surfing around the Birds site, looking for bits for the W202 and came across the advert for the S43 Spirit Kompressor conversion, it chucks out a mad 439bhp!
