updates

I have recently bought a B class with Comand which has version 8. I have read of updates with subsequent version of the DVD and just wondering if I go from 8 to 12 some of the updates will be missed or are all the updates contained in version 12? Can anyone also advise what updates are included.

Does anyone have a list of updates that could be applied via Star system to my ml270 please? I don't think its been on star now for quite some time and I heard that there are some great improvements to be gained? Car is going in for a 'b' service next weekend.

I read today that MB dealers will now be providing free map updates to COMAND APS systems for the next 3 years, whether your the 1st owner of the car or not. I get confused as to which type of COMAND I have ... I have a 59 plate, C250. Is that NTG2.5 or APS?

I'm having a clear out of unnecessary programs/files etc on my laptop, and have several updates and two SE Runtime Environments of Java. Do they build on one another, or can I uninstall the older versions? Any help/advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

How many times in a year are maps for the w211 e.g. updated or a new dvd produced? Does the update apply to the map itself or do you need the new complete dvd with the new map? Sorry I'm slightly confused and probably asking a question with a very simple answer. Regards. Ed:confused:
