Yesterday, we went down to York for the day.
A superb day out but changeable weather. From sunshine to extreme thunderstorms.
My W220 performed brilliantly. It's got 132k miles under it's belt but still returned 28mpg on a 450 mile run averaging just under NSL.
But I experienced something for...
Minding my own business yesterday afternoon travelling at about 70mph on the nearside lane where the M40 / M25 exit splits clockwise / anticlockwise when some eejit in the outside lane at the side of me suddenly veers left and hits the rear offside wheel / bumper area of my car sending me...
evening all... i bought, what i found was (just about) the perfect ML270 yesterday, a couple of niggles that would get sorted but, after a sluggish motorway drive home, today, i had it on STAR diagnostics, and i was a bit gutted to find that it needed:
air mass sensor
kickdown switch
glow plug...
Managed a bit of detailing yesterday in the short break of rain.
Used my new Snow Foam Lance (thanks npuk :thumb: ) got a sample of Autobrite Super Snow Foam, went on a treat, still need to get the dilution rates right but it worked pretty well.
I then used 2bm with Autoglym shampoo and...
Spotted just south of Birmingham. Was it anyone on here? It was stunning and made all of the modern machinery look very ordinary. Brightened up my journey!!
....in response to a mate who scoffed at my suggestion that my car was relatively economical for a big V8.
So a wager of a full tank of V power was set if i could get back to London over a certain mpg.
The only rules were i couldn't change my standard route and i had to drive at the NSL...
through some old Practical motorist magazines dating from the 1960's that i found in the loft of the house we recently bought and some of the features and letters were tbh amusing to say the least. Topics like 'overhaul your dynamo' and 'how to keep your trunnions at their best' to name but a...
Had to go to Manchester early yesterday for meeting so drove as trains would not get me there in time. Stone or similar hit the windscreen on M6 and impact sounded like a bullet had hit it. Crack has now gone halfway across screen so new one being ordered
Made really good time until...
The aircon on my CLK has never been particularly fantastic, and I've noticed over the last few weeks it's been getting worse.
Nothing too bad, just takes a long time to cool the car down, and struggles a little in the very hot weather.
Well, I've been here before in my 210 - cabin filter...
We're driving around the west coast of the Scottish Highlands at the moment in the 300TD (which is behaving faultlessly) and came upon a police roadblock near Glenuig.
Turned out they were filming the SLS AMG Roadster advert. I just happened to have my video camera to hand...

Also known as my W124 Merc
Bought this in March as a replacement for my written off Peugeot 106. I ordered plenty of cleaning supplies from Polished Bliss and awaited a good dry day when my (now 6 week old) son wasn't being a pain in the ****
The cars bodywork is generally in good nick...
Yesterday I got one of those dreaded phone calls from the wife to say "the car's doing something funny:eek:"
Apparently the indicators, blower, wipers and windows all stopped working during a journey. It seems like there were no other symptoms and no warnings were displayed on the dash. It...
Yesterday I went to Holkham Beach in North Norfolk, and spotted a gorgeous E-Class Coupe.
I had a good nose round (:o), and noticed the number plates were made at Auto-Barn, the Merc sales specialist. That explained the next thing. A Dark Blue/Black colour, with cream interior, she had the 320...

Well, seeing as I've no interest in the election, the names are the only difference IMO, I thought I'd head out on a drive.
So I woke up at half 4 this morning then decided sod...
Was in a queue of traffic at road works (A322, West End) when I heard a Police vehicle coming the other way. As a bog standard Vito Dualiner went past I realised that's where the noise was coming from!
It was an unusual 'petrol blue' (light blue/grey), completely unmarked, ordinary steel...
