Interested in the pros and cons of fitting 19s which no doubt will fill the arches better but don't want to ruin the ride quality which is fantastic compared to my last W204 estate with sports springs.

I have my eye on a retro look (if they fit?)

Something like these 19s LORINSER RSK-3 19" 2 split Alloy Wheels 5x112/5x120 9/10J Mercedes Audi Vw Bmw | eBay

Car currently fitted with the original AMG 18s which I would keep for a winter set of tyres and for possible eventual sell on of the car

Any other wheel ideas appreciacted

Cheers

I had a set of 19s on my w211 it was only a e270 so no air suspension etc

Ride wasn't to bad considering . I mean if you hit a pot hole your sure knew about it

But overall I was happy

thanks

i realise this post is in the wrong section. how do i move it?

I once ran a set of AMG IIIs on my E55K.

On the one hand, I quite liked the look initially but went off them a few months later.

My verdict is that the 19s did grip better but gave way quicker. However, the ride was noticeably less compliant and handling was 'sloppier', for want of a better expression although what part of that was due to the incorrect offset - not sure.

I would say if you care more about driving and ride quality than looks, I would stick with the 18s.

I find the 19`s fine, didn't really notice much difference to the 18`s.

I run both 19`s in the summer and 18`s in autumn and 18" with winter tyres in the winter.

No difference in ride from 18" to 19"

Grip did seem to improve when I went up but this is mainly due to changing to super sport tyres.
AMG wheels on the 211 shape are all heavy. So if you want a difference try some light weight ones.

I've got 19" AMG IV's on my S211 E55 and they're fine, they fill the arches perfectly.

^ The problem with that set is they are not a staggered set up. Should be 9.5j on the rear, not 8.5 all round.
