190E Advice Needed

I won't be buying the ebay one I asked for details of paper work and tools and the reply was QUOTE:
As i said in listing some mots receipts for work done i have added picture of jack i have taken out spare wheel to show you hope this helps
cheers.

So what he is saying is no service history,no tools except the jack,no handbooks,no triangle so I don't think it has had careful owners.
Looking at the pictures there is also damage to the grill which he has not mentioned

It needs a couple of grille stats, they're only a couple of quid.

And a tool roll and trangle should cheap and easy enough to track down.

The lack of paperwork, the low mileage, and the high number of previous owners gives me a slightly uneasy feeling about this car. To me it just doesn't add up right...and leaves a lot of question marks about the car's past.
This car is at a not particularly nice part of Bristol and as was said to me No Rush I have a nice car at the moment but I just like the W201 I wished I had kept mine now.
I have just had an email from the second one I found and this is his reply.

Good Morning Norman
I have just reduced it from £1700 to £1250 however i need to sell i need the space and it is not being used at the moment which is a shame because it is a lovely car.
I would accept £1000 cash for it please let me know when you would like to view i am in Bournemouth Dorset.
Kind Regards
Matthew Sells

When I hear the words "it is not being used at the moment " I am always wary.

Means the car is probably unlicenced and maybe has no MOT cert. Always buy a "daily runner on the road" is my motto in this price bracket. How can you fully test the car otherwise? You can't tell much about the transmission,, steering suspension or brakes if the car is parked up.

"the current mot expires in March 2009 also available are all the old mots to verify the very low milage of just 88,000 miles.
The milage is 100% genuine and as stated has been cherished and much loved it is also taxed until September 2008."

Not too much to worry about.

Sorry I was talking about the red ebay ( 10 owners and 64k miles -do me a favour ;) ) one,the Bornite one ticks all the right boxes to me and the price is right for a good un.:)

Clap a nice set of refurbished 15 hole alloys on it and you will have a good looking car there.

I would go and look at the local one on ebay first to get an idea of exactly the condition and background of the car before bidding ends, then go and look at the Bornite one armed with the knowledge of the condition of the one for half the money.

As far as a car not bing from a nice part of town, so what, and you don't know where the second one resides either, might be a Pikey caravan park..

Quite right Graeme I am going to give it a miss I feel the same as you (wrong signals)
