1989 124 300TE Front Grille Q

What colour would the plastic behind the chrome have been on my 300TE when new? It is a faded grey now. I am unsure if that is the original or if it would have been black.

Either way it's need a freshen up. Any tips for reviving this please?

It would have been grey but not completely dull and powdery which is how these go. Best bet which is what I did. TFR it, scrub it, jet wash it. Comes up nice. I did it on my 300ce and it looks fresh now. They were never black and look awful in black.

Have you priced up a new one? I bought one years ago & was surprised how cheap it was.

Of course that was then, this is now & things change but might be worth a call.

The bits all come separately. The grey plastic, the chrome surround and the cross bars. Had to get some new bits for our facelift model a couple of years ago and as above they were not expensive
