This is my new mode of transport. I absolutely love the thing, such a fantastic luxo barge:D

It has a genuine 65,700 odd miles on the clock and drives so nice and tight:cool:

I took these a short while ago in the pouring rain!

Had to stop and take a pic this morning as the clock rolled over to 66,666 :)

I gave the paint a good clean with a clay bar yesterday, then a polish and wax. I simply can't believe how smooth the paint now is. The amount of crap that came of onto the clay bar was shocking!! It's difficult to show in pictures just how much brighter the paint now looks.

I did a pressure test of the engine today just out of curiosity. To say I'm highly happy with the results is an understatement:D

From front to back.
1) 200psi
2) 200psi
3) 197psi
4) 195psi
5) 200psi
6) 197psi

That's virtually like a new engine:cool:

I painted the speedo and gauge needles today as they had faded a fair bit.

Just a pic to show you that mine are now just as they were originally as I have had a few comments saying they were never that colour originally.

This is from a very low mileage garaged all it's life E320.

I'm so happy I found that picture as I had been doubting my choice of colour but am now so happy I got it spot on :) B)

The car rolled over the 70.000 mile mark today. 70.009 by the time I noticed and stopped to take a pic.

The rocker gasket had been weeping for a while so today I finally got around to changing it £17 delivered from MB Oxford. Always great service from there. The old one had got so bad it was weeping on to the manifolds leaving a nasty smell in the cabin and outside the car when the engine was hot. Off came the rocker cover and a nice clean varnish free rocker assembly greeted me B)
It just shows what regular servicing can do for your engine.

How to tell it's a 3.0l

Next job was degreasing and cleaning the cover. I used a flat blade screwdriver wrapped the end in a a rag and some degreaser and used to scrape and clean the mating faces of the cover.

I also took the breather apart for a clean but it was also not that bad at all and only needed a quick wipe out
with some degreaser. Forgot to take a pic of that :(

Here it is drying in the sun after a wash down to remove all degreaser.

Whilst I was at it a decided to check all the plugs and leads. The plugs ain't that old so were a lovely light brown and all gaps perfect but I did find a split on the end of one of the leads.

Which probably explains the odd out of sync mumble on tickover. So that was taped up with lecky tape and seems OK now. I also took the time to separate the leads and get them in the correct order in the lead carrier, none of them now overlap and I'm certain the idle is now much smoother.

All back together and ready for a full engine degrease over the weekend.

I gave the S it's first wash for a few months, today.

What a majestic looking car B)
