1993 Mercedes 190E LE Auto

One of the last of the 190E models, my car is in very good condition and will no doubt to continue to provide many years of reliable service.

This car has never let me down, runs smoothly and returns 30mpg.

I have the A3 sized certificate (!) that confirms this car is LE number 697 of the last 1000 brought to the UK. Also a stack of old MOT Certificates and service history.

I believe the history of the car is that it was a company vehicle supplied to an employee of a Mercedes truck franchise, was bought by another employee of the same firm when the original driver replaced it and again by a further mechanic from him (so 3 former registered keepers).

Metallic Silver with Mercedes Alloy Wheels (the owner before me replaced the original alloys with these genuine Mercedes items when the lacquer lifted - not a bad indication of the care this car has had!).

The car comes with a full service history, which most recently includes replacement shock absorbers and exhaust.

MOT until February 2009 and Taxed until July 2009 - I had intended to keep this car for a few more years, but a change of jobs means I will be buying an estate.

The car has an electric sun roof (tilt and slide) and 4x electric windows, CD player and 4x head rests. Also ABS and drivers airbag.

I have owned 5 Mercedes cars and the "over engineered" feel of the W201 (190E) is only matched by the W124 (230E) models - after 1994, build quality never seemed to recover! This car feels like it will go on for ever - I bought it to replace a C Class because the 190 is a league ahead in build quality!

Bad points? The last MOT had an advisory note for a chip in the windscreen that I'd had repaired (so it is not a failure, but I mention it to be completely honest about the condition of the car). I had the ignition barrel replaced when it stuck briefly (it only did it once, but it is a weakness on W201 and W124 models, so got it sorted straight away) - this means the ignition key is different to the door keys, but the Mercedes alarm/immobiliser has remote central locking, so I have never needed to use the door key anyway! I had the front wheel bearings changed last year and suspect the rears will need doing in the next 12 months, but this is not particularly difficult or expensive.

LE means it has a nicer wood trim in the centre of the dash and a higher standard spec than other 190Es.
