1995 E36 Amg (w124)

How much is it gonna cost for an ECU specialist to build a custom one for you ?

Or hang on for a written off C or E 36 and get a sceondhand one, rare i know ....

I bet the E320 and E36 ones are near enough the same, just with a few different lines of code, if you had someone with the info on a '36 ECU stored, you could work out the difference and recode it ...

C36 ECU would do the job. Only other thing needed is the intake pipe that goes across the top of the engine.
If another engine comes up I'm gonna do it:bannana:

A good friend of mine runs a large company specialising in engine and boxes, he has a engine and gearbox from a E36 w210 which he will let me have at 'mates rates'. Its essentially the same engine, uses the same loom from what I can see. In terms of ECU, im pretty sure they woudl be physically different in size and shape, Id hope I could get my one flashed with the program for an E36 w124 by someone like superchips.
I fear the transmission would be too much work to change, and im not sure if my current box will cope with the added bhp. Although I have found out that back in '95 the E36 was only available with a 4sp box on a w124, where as a e320 could be ordered with a 5sp. Ideally I need to get hold of a proper epc and start comparing parts by vin numbers.

Since deciding against having the 500e arches put on, Ive got quite a substantial budget left in terms of spend on this car, if it can be done at a reasonable cost then Im game.

Well, now its a little clearer about what you are considering I would hold off on the E36 conversion. You are more than welcome to have a blatt in my twin turbo w124 to see what you think(same for Vlad maybe ?) At least the car could be put back to standard if required with the turbo conversion and if you were staying normally aspirated then the '36 would be well down on power in comparison.

If you feel up to a full on conversion then I'm hoping to get a ride in a 500E w124 in the next week or so. Its a 320 estate with a 500 V8 and box in it. Its not on the road yet but looks pretty good so far and the guy building it reckons it can be duplicated for saloons or coupes aswell. I need to decide if I want to have my 3 litre 24V rebuilt with decent bits as a 3.6 so I can raise the boost or scrap the idea altogether and have him drop in the 32V V8 and box he has access to.

My dream car was always going to be a w124 coupe with a nice V8 in it and in rhd. Whatever you decide to go for I'm sure it will look as good as all your other cars have done

My Twin Turbo is certainly available for a test drive and may I remind all members out there, that its also for sale with a history file to die for and a maintenance regime that confirms that £24k+ has been spent in the last 11 years maintaining this car to the very highest order.

Re the V8 conversion.....how is your mate planning to fit the V8 into the standard engine bay.....is he going to have to chop it about to fit it in + fit a new crossmember and engine mounts and widen the transmission tunnel?

Not sure about the details as it was only a short visit, but its in and the bonnet closes ok so I'm assuming the other points have been attended to. I will ask for a full run down and maybe some pics when I go in next.

Thanks for the offer of a drive guys, would be good to see your cars at a GTG, if I do anything it will just be a e366 engine, as Im getting one for a silly amount of money.
