hi i have posted about this before i have put my car in to aa merctech in hoddesdon for a diagnostic report they have had it a week and still cant get it to run there is a fault with the injector pump because it does not click over surely a full diagnostics would point out the problem because i believe they are stuck and dont know what to do any help appreciated so far it has cost me about £180

What do you mean by 'click over'? There is very little about these pumps that is electric and able to be interrogated by diagnostics.

when you put the key in if you turn it once you can hear the fuel position rack in the pump open mine does not do that and it is controlled by electrics

hi have no idea if there is power to injection pump but probably not but i would thought they would have checked that if a full diagnostics was done

Can they communicate with the ECU?

The output side is pretty simple, a feed and return to the stop solenoid and another for the rack solenoid.
The input side is the rack position sensors and pump speed sensor.

If they cheat the stop solenoid 9or ensure it is working), then remove the back of the pump and push the rack forwards, the engine will fire up, assuming the pump is mechanically sound and turning with the engine.

i thought they would have checked all that with diagnostics but i dont believe they done it

A Bosch diesel centre would be a better place than a Mercedes Indie.

The ECU is a generic Bosh controller and the pump replicates a VP36 in operation.

If the rack solenoid isn't working, either there must be a sensor fault, the ECU is duff or a cabling fault. I doubt the solenoid is faulty, possibly the output driver of the ECU is dead.

By performing a mechanical test, you narrow the fault down to it being electrical. (obviously :D)

i know the pump works because i tried it on my other e300td and it clicked over but the guys looking at it have not heard it before and didnt understand when i told them that it is quite noticeable when you hear it
