2 attempted thefts time to move on?

Hey Guys

Love my C63 been the best car I have ever owned, had her almost 3 years now. But with 2 attempted thefts in the last 2 weeks is it time to move on ?

I think in London now it’s not really worth owning a decent car when these scum bags just want to steal it plus the factor of been there done that wouldn’t mind having something subtle

Anyone else here ever feel the same ?

Its a shame that we now have to consider the actions of others when owning a vehicle , if the attempted thefts are making you or your family concerned about any future theft attempts it maybe time to move it on and get something less desirable to the scum , there are too many other things in life to worry about without adding to them.

What stopped them getting the vehicle ,twice ?

Hi buddy, more it’s just annoying than anything else.

I have my keys in a blocker box so both times they couldn’t pick up the keys signal

The most annoying thing is waking up to 10 Ring notifications and seeing them scum bags on my drive, next time I’m sleeping with the phone on loud, well my mrs phone don’t even have the app on mine

Couldn`t you gate or bollard the driveway , it maybe enough of a deterrent to get them to move on ?

I do have 1 more line of defence but they won’t know until they try and start the car.

I was thinking about bollards but will need to wait until I do my driveway

Get a dog…. The barking is a decent deterrent.

I think if you sold it you would be giving in to them.
A bollard would make them walk past it I would hope.

An X5 was a consideration when picking my latest vehicle , until i got some insurance quotes and on that basis alone it was ruled out of the equation.

That’s another thing to insurance, we see what the renewal is in December.
I heard a lot of insurance companies are starting to accept Ghost 2 Immobilisers so hopefully that will help with any silly quotes

You’re right Kenny. In Newton Mearns the quotes on premium SUVs have really gone up.

yup, even my neighbour sold his M4 think they attempted to take his same day as mine (first time), failed luckily but he has had a steering wheel stolen from his car when he was at a friends house. Couldn’t even get home had to get towed and waited ages for a new wheel

Really sorry to hear this . Our neighbours Range Rover got stolen about a year ago, that really freaked us out so know the exact feeling. Saw the rats on CCTV and it didn't take them that long. At that time we were having our diner and the neighbours were at home too.

Would you not consider Pandora? Highly recommend.

One of my friends was selling his S500 (lives in London btw) - had a couple suspicious blokes turn up to ‘view’ it - they didn’t even test drive it, had a look around it and then said they’d go home and pay for it over bank transfer….

1 hour later the car vanished off the driveway… police couldn’t give a s*** and said it was probably a coincidence…. Funnily enough CCTV showed 3 men (all with masks) running up to the car, it seemed to open immediately (hazards flashed) and they drove off in seconds… my friend still has both keys in his house… no clue what they did…

I guess this is why so many take a massive hit on PX/Trade in rather than the pain of private sale.

The world is crazy right now - and certain cities even crazier… you just can’t have nice things anymore without constant worry… I’ve had keyless entry disabled on all my cars for a while now - which is a great shame as it’s a lovely feature… needs must though.

getting your car stolen, or keyed in, or someone hitting it while you are parked, I was thinking the same, just get a shitbox man
