2001 E200 Komp Key Fob Range

My key fob only works when I am very close to the door. It always seems slow and needs to be exactly directed at the door. Is this normal? Is there any way to increase the range of the fob?

Fitted two new batteries and it made no difference.

Im presuming its W210 model facelift so it should work from a fair distance away not very close to the car. Try the boot opening button how far away does that work from, if for that you have to be very close to the car for it to open then your fob may be faulty. If you got a spare fob try it with that, same problem ?

Boot is exact same, you have to be very close for it to work. Only got one key with the car unfortunately.

Do you know if the range can be reset in anyway?

I thought it was putting the fob against ure head and trying it as demonstrated in Top Gear with Jeremy's SL55 AMG and it worked
