CLK500 2003
First off let me apologise if this is old news - not to me and I'm struggling to find anything on here. Second not sure if the fact that mine is a 500 has any relevance but just in case. I have two push button keys for the car but one stopped working today with no warning so changed the batteries - still not working even though the little red light comes on, on the fob. The other one works fine so I presume it's not the car. Question is do I need to do something with the key having put new batteries in? Have to ask as previous cars have needed reprogramming for some reason. Checked in the book and there's no mention other than how to actually change the batteries.

thanks folks and again sorry if this has been covered before.

1. Does it lock/unlock the car?

2. Does it start the car?

If yes to (1) and no to (2) then possibly a damaged coil which can be repaired.

Hmm - Thanks Bob. It wouldn't open the car so I hadn't tried to start it, have now!! It started fine and after that it locks and unlocks the car as well. Now I feel a fool for having asked the question at all, unless it turns out to be an intermittent fault of course.

Thanks again - happy now it's working properly, for the time being at least.
