Hi all,

I have been looking at a few 2004/2005 CLKs as I need to buy one for my father, who's Volvo C70 (Merc CLK lookalike) died last weekend. He had a pristine 1990 190E which had no rust, beautiful body...it acted up and he came up with the idea of the Volvo, which has been a nightmare, go figure eh:dk:

I believe the SEQ Auto was only in use for a couple of years and then was dropped, so this makes me a little weary of buying a SEQ Auto model. That and the few posts I have seen to steer clear of the SEQ Auto, but haven't been able to pinpoint the reason. Alot of it is 'I heard to steer clear' etc.

Can anyone offer some advice on this?

Also, after having a very bad experience with the C70, would love to hear from owners of 2004/05 CLKs with regards to what to look for, any specific problem areas etc.

I do apologize if this has been covered before and I have tried to pinpoint any relevant posts, but really short on time.

Links to other relevant posts are more than welcome.

Cheers in advance!

If you are looking at 2004 make sure you go for the post facelift version. More modern interior electrics and design being the main advantage. Tiptronic auto every time if you ever want to resell it. 2004 onwards galvanised so rust should not be an issue. They are pretty strong mechanically. Just need to choose your engine/fuel type. Our prefacelift car is now 9 years old and apart from an airbag module and rear centre brake light its needed nothing other than routine servicing.

Thanks for the info GP801.

Got my dad a 2005 C180K Avantgarde SE in the end as he conceded that he needed a 2 door. But after looking at a few, I am interested getting a CLK.

Decisions, decisions
