2005 CL Grill on 2005 C CLass Sports Coupe

Hello, first post.

I have done a lot of research on this site and other MB forums and cannot find a definitive answer to this question.

Does the OEM grill from a CL or CLK fit onto a C Class Sports Coupe? and if so does it require any modification or does it fit straight on?

Can anyone answer this?

Welcome to the forum!

It is unlikely to fit straight in, you would probably need to trim an oem grill to fit or buy an aftermarket grill designed for the sport coupe. Facelift sport coupe grills don't fit straight on to pre-facelift models either, some modification is required!

try LS design. They do a plain grill or, as shude says, mod a new grill.

Anyone have any links? also the LS design can have a link for them, i found 3 LS designs but none supplied anyhting to do with cars.

The original CL W215 grille will fit a C-class W203 sedan (except the C55). I dont know what the coupe can accept.

I have heard of a couple of people who have tried to modify the original cl grill to fit the c class but the end result was not good.

So the answer to your question is deffinatly no.

If you would like the post face lift C Class coupe evolution (perforated) grille on a pre face lift C Class coupe then that is posible with a little imagination. I managed it and I have NO imagination, or so they tell me . I have a post somewhere in "Bodywork"

The clip arrangement is not the same but that doesnt mean the size is a problem.

August 2005 Merc Enthusiast has an advert by Galercia or someone showing a C215 on an SC - it's the page around the area of the blue maxxed-out W202 towards the end (maybe the E280 T on the next page - can't remember).
