Mercedes E320 CDI sport 2007
Hi, does anyone know of any threads or useful how tos on the net for removing and refitting the cylinder heads on a 2007 E320 CDI sport, engine type 642 940. I have managed to suck up a load of water and blow the head gasket on my pride and joy.

I have searched for days now but cannot seem to find anything for this particular engine.. Does anyone know if Autodata has this info? I checked on there website but they only seem to have info for the E220 CDI and not the E320 CDI sport..

How did you fill it with water??

Very bad weather and went through a puddle that was deeper than expected, engine sucked up a bucket load!

Job for ya local Indie I'd say.

Pulling the top end off a Merc V6 aint for the unfamiliar DIY Joe.

Would suspect con rods bend may be better to go new engine route

Yes im pretty much expecting to get a replacement engine to be honest. Saying that he engine seems to run ok apart from blowing white smoke. The engine cut out as soon as it hit the water so im assuming there wasnt to much damage.

Yea im expecting the worst, but will never know unless I open it up and investigate. Ive rebuilt several engeines and done countless headgaskets in my time so this type of thing doesnt scare me to be honest. At the end of the day its an engine just like any other so wont be unlike a BMW or Audi for example...My engine is a 642 940 unfortunatly so that wont be compatible, thanks for the link anyway.
