I'm selling my 2008 plate CLS320CDI which has done only 48,000 miles. It's silver metallic with anthracite leather and laurel wood trim.
The car was apparently built to order for Mercedes of Beaconsfield who kept it for a year as a demonstrator before selling it with roughly 10,000 miles on the clock to the lady from whom I bought it. She kept it until September 2013 but put only an extra 23,000 miles on the clock.
As a demonstrator it was spec’d with a number of options:
220 Parktronic (front and rear)
386 Mobile phone pre wiring (plus a Viseeo added by me)
427 7G Auto Gearbox
527 Comand Audio/ Sat Nav system
616 BiXenon Headlights with Active Curve Light (headlights turn with steering at speed)
619 Cornering Illumination (the appropriate driving light switches on with steering at slow speed to illuminate into corners)
819 6 CD Changer in the dash
873 Electrically moveable and heated seats
875 Heated windscreen washers
There’s a also a full set of mats and a boot liner (all genuine Merc)
Since I’ve had it I have taken it across France four times and added a further 15,000 miles bringing the total to 48,500 miles.
It has a full service history initially with main dealer and subsequently with Merc specialist independents. In my ownership it has had a full service, as well as a full transmission fluid and filter change (recommended at 37,000 miles but ignored by many owners apparently), a brake fluid change, new front pads and disks, and a new glow plug control unit.
I also bought a second set of genuine Merc CLS wheels and fitted Continental winter tyres which are currently on the car. The summer set of wheels, which are immaculate, are also shod with Contis.
Finally I added a detachable tow bar which is fully European Type Approved – confirmed by VOSA – and brings the car’s towing weights into line with the equivalent E Class 320CDI. The electrics for the bar are the full CAN-Bus interactive system, rather than the cheap bypass relay alternative.
Unfortunately I’ve been too busy with a start-up company to get away racing this year so the tow bar has been hardly used.
The car will need a service in about 5,000 miles or by February and is MoT’d until February also, but I’ll get it re-MoT’d before selling.
Why then am I selling? Sadly my other half finds it too large for her to feel comfortable with, so we are returning to a C Class.
The car is, I think, in excellent condition so I think £11,500 ono is fair - including the second set of wheels/tyres which alone would cost around £1000. Both keys, the service book, and the V5 are present. The car is located in Hampshire.
