2008 Vito Rear Fog Light

Hi All ,


Had the indications on the dashboard of a U/S bulb. This displays only when the rear fog light or the main lights on switched on. I discovered this after i brought the Van.

Turned all the lights on , and the rear left fog light not working. So went to Halfords to buy replacement bulb. Got into the cluster changed the bulb ( the old one looked fine) Still no joy ??

Any Ideas ??

The rear right hand side fog light works fine

There is only the RH rear fog light on the Viano that lights and no error message. Did ask the dealer once when it had a new SAM unit if I could have both sides as I think it has to be coded but they didn't and I haven't bothered to take it further. I assume that the thinking is that the right side of the vehicle is identified. May be wrong but I still think it would be better to have both - one day I will get round to it. If you can find a way of lighting it post how as I would really like to know.

So are u suggesting that the left hand side fog light shouldn't work ?

That's the case with a lot of modern vehicles.

Next time I take our Vito out I'll check the rear fogs and let you know.

My 60 plate Vito only has a fog light on the drivers side, I think they only have one so the brake lights stand out

Ok , so by the sounds of it it's not the rear left fog that's causing the light alarm going off. Bugger . Is there any easy way of working out which one is causing the fault ?

Forgotten what it is like on the Vito when we had one but doesn't the centre display give you the info? The Viano identifies which light is defective.

I wish , just a yellow lamp symbol with no indication on which light is the culprit.

What is STAR ? I take it ,it some diagnoses software ?

try the rear number plate lights, vito takes two

try the indicator lights also

Tried number plates and indicators this morning , still all lights working

Checked my 2007 Vito last night and (as expected) it only has a single rear foglight, on the offside.
