2011 gl350 cdi remote locking issue

Hello, first time post please go easy on me.

I have a 2011 gl350 cdi went out to the car today and neither of my two remotes will unlock the car or operate the electric boot, i used the key to open the drivers door and the car starts fine the central locking operates using the button on the inside of the drivers door and the boot opens using the button on the drivers door but will not close on its own and will not work using the red button on the inside of the boot also its not lit up either.

sorry for the long winded question but any pointers would be much appreciated, many thanks Tony.

Point the end of the remote, as close as possible, at the sensor in the door handle and try unlocking/locking.

Replace batteries inside both remotes.

Check any fuses relating to the radio, central locking or the alarm system.

Thanks Dec, took car for a wee run got back home and all is working as normal now. (Strange).
