Hiya,

what are peoples thoughts on gear box service and is there any mapping options for the gearbox? mine just seems a little laggy in high speeds and a little clunky in very very crawling speeds?

The cars creeping upto 100k miles and as much as I want to spend some money on it I also want to maintain it nicely

Oil change and filter on a nag2+ is 77.500 miles. Nag2 is around 40000 miles. Costs around £200 .

No , alegedy removes pulling away pedal lag , speeds shifting up by 30% and relaxes torque limiters .

A 2011 W204 will be the facelift model and will have the 7G+ (NAG2+) box, with the ECO Stop/Start.

As a first step, you can get the TCU software updated to the latest version, this can be done by any MB dealer, or by a specialist with genuine STAR and subscription. The software is free, the labour charge will be £50-£60.

Then, drive the car hard for a while, the transmission should adapt and become a little sharper.

You can also try remapping or fitting a Diesel tunning box for the engine, your 2011 C220CDI will have the OM651 engine, and improving the torque will help with the feel of the transmission response. I don't know if the engine tuners will also remap the TCU to match - best check directly with them.

If you are looking at TCU remapping via the OBDII port, then try to find a reputable brand that has been tested by an impartial tuner, because there were many reports about 'TCU remapping' boxes that contained nothing more than a flashing LED and a beeper inside... relying on placebo effect to do the job :)

hi mate thanks for coming back tome, great advise on this ... I think I’ll get a good service done on the car inc gearbox, then look at getting this TCU updated and then finally a remap to get that added tourques :D

I'm curious - what difference will that all make in real-world driving? Not a loaded question BTW!

I’m very interested too, does anyone recommend anyone local to Hertfordshire area?

Anything after June 21, 2010 . Uses blue fluid. I maybe made an error earlier and mileage it seems is 70.000 miles. Not 77500.

77500 / 5 years was the case late 2018 as I quadruple checked with two main and two indi .

Mb website said 77500 for mine tbh. I just read otherwise somewhere. ? I'm on 70k now but at 5 years. Its driving fine so I'll edge my bets and think about having it done at maybe 75k.

well, it has the "eco" button on the dash dash / console but never managed for it to actually kick in ..

Check behind the battery in the boot for a fuse holder ( single ) 7.5 amp. Or just leave it as is . It's bad for the engine tbh.

You must be looking at the wrong place... check on ESS Lite.

For the 7G-Tronic+ it is most definitely 77,500 miles or 5 years, the earlier of the two.

if its bad for the engine ill leave it there tbh that's the first thing I turn off in my Q5 :D

The stop start is bad for the engine . Just to make that clear. 😁
