Hi,

I have a 2013 Mercedes Vito Taxi 62 plate that has an intermittent issue with its sliding doors.

Sometimes when I pick a passenger up and close the door the door that has been opened is reported to be still open on the dashboard and the buzzer sounds.

Sometimes it's a case of opening and closing the doors and all is well - lights turn off and buzzer stops sounding. But just lately, I have to open and close the door a few times to get the buzzer to stop and the lights to turn off.

Also, once the door buzzer is sounding and the door open is showing on my dashboard display, the central door locking system seems to be knocked out ie. the brake pedal doesn't lock the rear doors and the light on the dashboard for the central locking system doesn't light up.

Has anybody had a similar problem and what have you done to remedy it? Is it a central locking problem? My key fob never fails to open or close the Vito btw.

Does it need new sliding door contact plates on both sides? I clean them regularly.

I've never touched the contact plates or pins on our 10 year old Vito - could your regular cleaning be causing the problem in some way?

Shouldn't think so as it's just a quick wipe with a rag. I know they are really sensitive especially the pins on the doors - I've seen a piece of fine thread off a coat cause problems before.

It started with just one door now and again now it's both doors more frequently

Hmm we use our Vito to carry 3 kids and 8 dogs so the interior is far from immaculate :D but in 10 years I've never once had an issue with either door wrongly being flagged as open. But these are manual doors rather than electric, perhaps the drive (I assume it's a cable) on yours needs adjusting??

I would agree with that, it has to be the cable, if of course they are electric. We have never had a problem with the side doors. As for the tailgate though that is a continual problem which we have solved by locking it externally just to check it is closed.

Yes, they are electric, looks like I might have to take it in for MB to have a look. Can't believe nobody else has had a similar problem.

Power doors are standard on the Vito Taxi.

I didn't know that. Explains why I see so many in London. Always knew they did a car.

So I see how about that. Looked at the web site quite a vehicle.

Did you manage to resolve this issue? I now have the same problem with mine. Also having a problem with opening the door as well with the dashboard switch. Works ok for a bit but then I have to push the button 3 times to get it to open.
