2015 E Class questions

It seems crazy that they are trying to improve economy, but are putting the breaks on downhill!!

If it didn't put the brakes on it wouldn't be cruising at the speed you had set it too.

So, if you set it at 60 and went down a hill coasting and it hit 75 and you got caught by a speed camera you wouldn't be on here moaning about the fact it had not maintained the speed you set it at?? :p

I have a C200 whilst my cat is in for a new seat!! I thought it reminded me of another car. Looks like they have been nabbing ideas from the old Ford Mondeo :)

Wheels or doors?

Point I was trying to make is its less economical and they try and make everything as economical as possible these days. I can't even leave it in sport mode without it resetting to economy mode every time I turn the engine off!! :(

No, it is not a case of being less economical, it is doing what you have asked it to do.

Anyway, how is using the break regeneration less economical than coasting?

On our X3 when you have the eco graph up breaking puts it above the eco line, it is using the breaks to charge the battery, it is more economical than coasting.

Are you saying in cruise control mode you would rather it ignored the speed and got as fast as it could so when you get to the bottom of the hill you could let off the gas for longer?

Fair point...I didn't think of that.

The c class courtesy car doesn't seem to do the same thing, it seems to go into neutral when going down hill as the revs drop to tick over! Maybe it's newer tech.

What's the idea of a picture of the bonnet and the road in the speedo? I think it's driver assist or something. It doesn't seem to do anything!!

Yup, I've wondered that. In fact it doesn't assist at all!

it's active lane assist

Is that a standard option? It doesn't appear to do anything on mine!

Anyone know if it's a simple software upgrade to get the automatic radar cruise control. Don't know the official name, but the one that keeps its distance from the car in front.

I think the car has all the sensors and think it would be nice to have that option.

Distronic Plus. It's much more complicated that just a software upgrade and the cruise lever is different anyway

I had a C class courtesy car today. I noticed it goes into to coast mode when going downhill. Not sure how much difference that would make, as I thought modern cars didn't use fuel when you took your foot off the loud pedal!!

That's simply because it's coasting down hill and would go above the speed you set it at if I didn't brake

It's not a standard option.

However when you are on that screen press and hold down and it will bring up the Alertness Monitor.

Is it normal for me to have to keep my finger on the memory seat button until it's completed the adjustment? Seems a bit pointless as it should surely be just one press!!

Press it before you get in, should then move to the position automatically.

It was the more the passenger as I have two kids and a missus. So to change seat position from one memory to another they either have to keep the button pressed for the duration of the move or get out of the car!!
