202 RUST! Beware

Takes about 15mins a side.

-1st remove all the tacks/clips underneith the car, theres about 6 a side and will most likely snap when removed. - prise them off.

-Then unscrew the screws at the front

- Open both doors and you will see the top of the sideskirt, carefully use a strong plastic knife or somthing which wont damage paintwork and prise it off.

It should then come off and prepare for the worse!

Cheers for that. No too worried as it's going to have a full bare metal respray next year with any rust sorted at the time. Just good to know how to get it off for rubbing down.

Following advice I looked at the jacking points, one will probably need doing properly next year as in cut out and new metal welded in, for now I've ground down the bulk of the rust and then tetrosyled both undersides of the sills

Back from the bodyshop, all rust ground out and weather proofed, then sprayed!: :thumb:

Well done and looks good

Nice one Karl suggest you give those sills a coating of Dynax whilst there clean and before you fit your C43 skirts :thumb:

Trouble is, Dynax is nasty stuff, it gets everywhere is like tar and extremely sticky.

I did my inner wing and a month later is still like glue, im not sure I want the inside of the skirts that sticky, what other options would anyone suggest?

If I go with Dynax which I already have, I was thinking of going with Underbody sealant around all the exposed holes and then Dynax.

Oh yeah, the bodyshop guy couldnt belive my skills with the spray can on my wing :D:D:D

That's how it's meant to be, it never dries to allow creep.

Underbody sealant applied to all holes, then Dynax sprayed into all nooks and crannies before skirts went back on:

Nice job it should last now

My 1999 CLK is going down to clive on this forum for respray , and he is going to spray my inner wings with same said dynax , it is the daddy of corrosion protection , then the car come back up to me its a 1200 mile round trip , which i have a transport company collecting and delivering the car , i intend to flood the inside sills with dynax and inside the bootom edges of the boot , doors etc i have posted on how bad the rust had become on the car , i have only drivin it 3 times and was called to work in Angola so cant wait to see the car after clive is finished ;) to the OP great job ! i was going to attemp this myself but time is not on my side atm

to add..if the product did dry it would probably start to flake, the same thing with waxoyl, it never dries for this very reason.
