225/45/17 on w124!!!

Mmmm. a rare manual and very high springs.

Was your car an Indian Import I wonder? What year is it?

no.bought it in year 1992.Infact i live in mauritius.perhaps thats why the springs are like that.isn't it?will these high springs enable me to put big tires?

What reg is it?

Bigger wheels and tyres will make the gap look worse not better.

If you are getting 17" rims then you might want to look into getting lower springs.

That said, what are your roads like where you are in Mauritius? Maybe you should stick to 15's and soft fluffy suspension?

eummm..the roads are ok.mauritius is mostly developed today.since i live in modern areas, the roads are fair. So,will it look better with 225/45/17 or 215/45/17??

Both will look awful until you lower the car a fair bit to be honest.

i think that youre right.BUt with these high spring is it sure that there will be no rubbing issues?

hey,

I will obviously take 225/45/17,but why does luke at tirerack recommends me 215/45/17.He told me that fenders should be rolled if i put 225/45/17.is that true?

thanks

That's what AMG did with their cars - they rolled the fenders on the w124 to accomodate the wider tyres.

The ability of a stock w124 to take tyres of this width depends on a combined effort of rolled arches, stiffer springs and matched shocks. Otherwise tyre rub on arches will be a feature when braking hard or turning at usual road speeds.

I suspect cars in Mauritius / Seychelles etc are Indian imports ?

i don't think so.because i bought this car 17 years ago.YEAR:1992.At that time this model was extremely famous...Everybody respected me as god.LOL

BUt how has Howard put 225/45/17 on his w124?

some people say that 225/45/17 rubs. But i thought that the distance between the fenders and the tires leaves a greater distance when putting bigger tires.where does it rub infact with bigger tires?

your a lucky man living there, I got married there last year what a stunning place..
