Can anyone point me in the right direction for some good quality technical info/cd/book on a r129 24valve model?

I have a head gasket to do (i think need to do my own investigations first), have done a M103 before but 24v scares me !

Also, does that engine suffer from the wiring loom issues?

Cheers

I think John may means the 3 litre 24 valve engine not the later 320 engine.

John

Can you confirm the engine size please ?

The early 24 valve engine did not use the Motronic HFM engine control for combined fuel and and ignition from just one super computer.

It is only this later variant that had the engine wiring loom problems.

If your's is the 3 litre unit there is no problem.

Haynes W124 manual #3253 covers the head removal.

Thanks. Yes, but it's a 104 (104.981 KE), and my understanding is that all 104 engines were afflicted by harness degradation. The link may not be specifically relevant, but perhaps it is helpful in general terms.

I should have woken up before posting, as I read "R129" as "W124". Doh.

the car is a 3 litre 24v
