270ML reset service indicator

I have followed the owners manual for this one step by step for quite a few time and it is not as simple as it may seem following the instructions it says turn on ignition and press reset button twice (this I do ) it shows the service time as it is now continue holding and then it indicates zero (one time after holding for a while it shown this (---------) so I continued holing waiting for the reset to happen but alas it is not forthcoming any ideas please as the beep when I turn on the ignition is driving me mad

Move start switch to position "2".

Within the first 4 seconds after moving the start switch to position 2, press the reset button for the trip counter twice within one second. The display for the servicerequest is activated for about 10 seconds.

Within these 10 seconds, move the start switch into position "0". The service request continues to be displayed.

Press the reset button for trip counter and keep it pressed.

Move the start switch into position "2".

Continue to hold the reset button for the trip counter pressed until the signal sounds and the new start distance appears in the display (it takes about 10 seconds).

hi I tried thid following you instructions to the letter however after pressing the trip button twice within a second I turn the key back to the zero position then pressed the butoon again and turned the key to the 2 positon and four zeros came up I continued holing and then got ------- I still continued holing and four zeros came back is it me or the car
