I recently put a speculative bid on US ebay for a 66 Mustang. As you can see from my signature I have imported a Mustang before.

My bid was 50% of the final auction value, which did not reach reserve - and yet this evening I received an e-mail from the seller with a second chance offer at my original low bid.

Am I about to be scammed?

Thoughts welcome .............

My bid was $4000. Auction ended at $8,000. Car realistically valued at $10,000 min.

Sounds iffy. Why would the seller offer it at half the final bid price? Unless the higher bidders bailed - still doesn't add up though... Nice car by the way! Love '60s muscle cars!

2 bidders at least gone missing ? Dont believe it, SCAM

Yes you probably are I sold a car on eBay a while ago and a mate of mine who wanted the car honest place a bit but it sold for higher than it was really worth so he said sell it he can always get another. We a few days later he got a emails saying did he want second chance at the item cos the sale fell through which was clearly not true, we played the guy a bit and he said he wanted cash and was willing to let us have it cheap, we offer to meet and bring cash but he could not make Any of the times we suggested.

Tread very carfully not everyone is a crock but when you monies gone that be be any good to you

Are you sure the email is genuine and not a phishing attack? i.e. you click on a link, typ in your password and some scammer now owns your ebay account?

Alternatively, the email is sent from someone that isn't the seller?

Ask for a telephone number to call him...
