I'm going to give them one last chance I think to sort it out properly! With extensive good will! If they can't do that then I'll give them the opportunity to exchange the vehicle! If this isn't an option they will entertain then I'll opt for a full refund!
I will ensure they give me full written agreement to goodwill of my liking before the repair the bonnet. What would you feel is acceptable to ask for? I'm thinking an extra years warranty on top with a free service plan!
I have given them ample opportunity to get things right.
So far:
- Xenon lights replaced due to water droplets inside
- practically a new panoramic roof mechanism
- repaired centre console to a poor standard so needed replacing
- fault heater motor which still seems to make a noise, if not louder!
- bonnet lacquer peeling (better pic attached)![]()
- drivers seatbelt sometimes doesn't retract properly and stays all 'floppy' so I need to feed it back in myself.
- slight ticking noise from the passenger side when driving on uneven surfaces.

Happy now?
Would it not have been an idea to ask them to smart repair the chips (at your cost) whilst they had the correct colour mixed? Choices are a touch in which will take your eye off it but may not hide it fully although I think with your colour you will get away with it. Other option is obviously a respray
our slk doesn't show any of the problems others have had with the fire opal paint. I guess it affects cars painted at a particular time in particular conditions.m
Good luck with yours from now onwards - keep an eye on it!
A week or two after that statement micro blistering was evident on most metal panels.
I had used t-cut to remove some tar spots then decided to re-wash the car and apply wax. micro blisters suddenly visible.
A problem I'm sure you would rather do without,
but hope it gets sorted.
Reason for thorough clean was that car was due to go back to MB at the end of an Agility agreement
E-mailed MB & they eventually replied with an apology and a note put on the file that I should not be charged for any bodywork issues.
BCA sent an inspector before collection. He had an information page on his laptop regarding the issues with red paintwork so was happy that it was a manufacturing defect. He said the car would have a full respray before being sold on.
