Guys does anyone have the OE part number for the front shocks for 1988 300ce? It's standard spec not Sportline or anything like that. The merc parts guy couldn't figure it out from his catalogue exactly he eventually came up with 124 320 30 30 about 300 and something for both but added discount and I could get them for 258£. Normally I would go with sachs as they (or bilstein) make them for merc anyway.

My fronts need replacing as car feels like it's riding on springs.

If you search the internet for the part # he gave you'll get a bunch of hits for various different brands and their part numbers including Sachs 115069. Look your car up on a site like 124 320 5130 B: SHOCK ABSORBER SET for Mercedes 124.050 (300CE) and while it gives a different MB part # it still suggests Sachs 115069 (or 1243206030 / sachs 115070 for sport chassis)

Not gonna be much in it once postage is factored in but Midland Car Spares (aka autopartstechnik) or SKS car parts are probably among the cheapest sources and waaaaaay nicer to deal with than eurocrap and most of the other usual suspects. FWIW the Lemforder top mounts i bought from autopartstechnik a few years back even had an MB part number cast into them and cost ~ £28 ea delivered vs £50ish from MB or £30 odd for Qdrive tat from eurocrap

If you haven't changed in 'em in ages/ever then i'd buy some new anti roll bushes too, they should be dirt cheap from MB

Your front shocks make well need replacing but bear in mind that there are lots of wearing items in the front suspension

I'd replace the front shocker top mounts & ARB bushes before doing anything else, and I'd replace the front springs before the shocks. The springs tend to sag & go soft

Top mounts & ARB bushes are easy DIY jobs. The rest, not so much

Whirsk were you able to use this site in German? Can't understand a thing mate! Also whats the part number for the bilsteins you used on your 300ce? I normally use sachs and figured out as the others have said that I need the sachs 115 069 for the standard suspension, although some places have that marked as off-road suspension

Hey Anfield
I used Google translate for German websites, just right click on mouse and it will translate for you.(using Google Chrome browser)
You could also send an email with requirements and car vin no. they have very good English.
They offered me a choice of shock options for my 300ce.
Best of luck.
If I can help just ask
Take care

So went with the sachs corresponding to the Mb number the dealer gave me 124 320 30 30. They are for the standard suspension. 30mins to swap out per side not to difficult with a breaker bar on hand but would have been easier I'd had power tools!
