Hi folks,

I was hoping someone has an better option than to take the rad out.

Basically I just need to turn the engine over slowly to bring into view drain plugh on torque converter.

With the plastic fan cowl loose I can get in to remove the viscous fan or get a socket on the crank - only way I can see is to remove the rad gaining access to the crank from under the car?

used to working on the OM605 where theres a bit more space

Hi Spock,
if you want to see the drain plug just go under the car and turn it from there with a screwdriver or a wrench at the torque converter. It turn easily slowly.
Remenber that you need to turn the engine clockwise when looking at it from the front, and its a bit hard to remember wich way it is while under the car and get confused :)

pop the starter and bar it around with a large flat screwdriver

Grab a friend who has a little more srength then you and twist engine by hand front crankshaft pulley.

I did that on my 230CLK and it was easy as hell. Make sure its in neutral. I was looking for crazy ideas how to fit socket and when I grabed it. It turned without resistance.

Dont go crazy with removing rad :P

Thanks bud but these are stiff as heck being a diesel, lots of comp to overcome but cheers for the suggestion.

THis is OK if you do it slowly under the car. It turn with a little bit of willingness and a screw driver as the pressure is only at speed :)
