320 v6 24v sl 129 with 12 plugs and problems

my friend has a 129 sl. it has the 3.2 v6 24v engine and it has 12 plugs!!
it also had the big brakes on it so must be a special one of some sort?

anyway, it starts on the button from cold, but as soon as it gets hot, it cuts out and will not start untill it cools down again, it then starts and runs fine, untill hot then stops ad-infinitum.

can anyone point us in the direction of wich part / parts will cause this problem. (if it was a 124 i would change the vop relay, does this car have one?)

Sounds to me like the crank position sensor is faulty.

No - 1999MY onwards the M112 V6 replaced the M104 I6.

its a real nice late late 129, got the big brakes on it an 18" 3 piece amg's

will get some pics, but a lot of you wont like the fact he's badged it up as a 560 amg!!!
reg kinda reads 'big 56 amg' as well, or sl56 amg, cant remember!

so the crank sensor, is it expensive to buy, easy to fit?

ok not sure on the valves... 6 cyl x 4 vpc is 24.
or is it three vpc? = 18

M112/3 have 3-valves and two spark plugs per cylinder.
