Before I begin please let me state that I have No Commercial Interest in this vehicle what so ever. I have a customer who is trying to sell this for the pricely sum of £1000. It may be of interest to someone here. It has done 94,600 miles. Majority of service history is Mercedes Benz Main Dealer. I am led to believe that everything works as it should. My reason for posting? Interest really. Just to show what you can get for a grand.

Looks nice, but since this is in a discussion forum ... is it an optical illusion or is the fit of this door seriously out?

Bill, I don't know. I intend to go and have a look at it this weekend, so I will let you know.

Unless there's something serious wrong with it, I agree that looks an awful lot of car for a grand.

Cheap as chips. Looks good to me. It's probably just the lower cladding on the door, the rest of the gap looks OK. Nice colour too.

;) It must be a 300e 124.230.

Am I right?

Nice, a lot of car for the money, but should the 4matic on the 124 not be avoided due to its complexity?

Speedo reads to 160 , so must be a 300 .... my 230 only goes to 140 :(

An awful big bill when it goes wrong too ( which it will ) ;)

RAC said same about my 300e, which is not a 4MATIC
I must confess to NOT rating that site as being any type of reference :o :o

4matic? are u sure?

Others have already confirmed it, but one way of telling a 4matic '124 is looking at the gear selector.
In a 4matic, the gear selector is slightly more proud of the centre console, whereas the surround in a normal car is deeper

In real life, it'll be more obvious than the pics :)

It's a strangeness of all W124s that the back door looks weird at that precise camera angle...

It's to do with the shape of the door shut behind the door edge. The rear doors have the arch edge curving inwards whereas the front doors have a much "harder" edge from the B pillar

I only know this because I photograph W124s all the time

Can I take my anorak off now, please?

If it wasn't a 4MATIC it wouldn't have the warning light in the speedometer, unless it had acceleration skid control, in which case it would have the snow chain switch.

Edit: Oh, and the 4MATIC indicator on the cluster is a bit of a giveaway...

I'm pretty sure that's a 4Matic too, it's sitting high in the pictures, plus what's the sqaure in the middle of the speedo for?

Plus IBW must know a thing or two about W124s ;) I'm sure if he's taken the time to speak to the guy at length and get these photos, he'd be pretty sure :D

Thought so ;)
