I`m thinking of swapping my 300e 24v for a 420 sec, hopefully one of the later ones.

Can I expect to get a good one for about £3,000 to £4,000 and what problems should I be looking for initially - what are their common faults?

Also will there be a huge difference in ride quality, handling and fuel consumption between that and my 300, I`d say I can realistically get around 25 to the gallon at the moment, what are 420 owners getting?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings Catfood!

Relative newbie myself here and coincidently also after a SEC, but a 500 or 560. Unfortunately, I am not going to be much help as I am currently plagueing the board with loads of newbie questions. What I will pass on though is that there seems to be a big disparity between what you and I might call "good condition" and what vendors would call that.

I did find a good website though:

http://www.mbcoupes.com/w126index.htm

There are links to buyers guides etc. Most are American and refer to 560's but the theory is the same.

I did see a black 420 in Brum last week and the inside was in good nick, and outside was probably a 8.5/10. But the speedo did not work, nor did the odo, so I was very suspicious!\

Maybe we can compare notes!
