49.1 MPG over the last 1200 miles - I'll take that :o)

50.5mpg over 2200 miles in mine so far. Sure beats the previous 20mpg (on a good day)!!

How much of that do you put down to the Hybrid feature and how much just being skint and bored of standing putting fuel in, after driving a C63 for too long?

Why buy a merc and quote mpg is more to the point.

If you like cars the mpg is iirrelevant.

If you want mpg...... Well I don't really give a sh#7

How many miles do you drive it in a year?

4000.

I don't buy a car basedon mpg. My cars are my enjoyment.

I had a 1.2 twingo before because it was economical, it did about 1500 miles a year because iit wasn't nice to drive.

You don't buy a mercedes then go on about how cheap it is to run.

That's like saying I bought a healthy kebab!

Buy a merc:- enjoy it

Buy a prius and quote mpg.

Daft statement.

You drive no mileage at all so aren't bothered about mpg, but what if you drove 20-30k miles per year?

I'd buy an economical car. Definitely not a mercedes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but mercedes is still a high end luxury brand not noted for its economy?

So, you slag posters off that can afford to run their Mercedes for higher mileages, but would need to run a cheap, economical car yourself if doing that.

Interesting perspective.

No.

I say why buy an expensive car to run if you can't afford it.

Where did I say I couldnt afford it?

My every day car is a lexus rx 300 which does about 18mpg average. 12k a year.

You like to assume things. Like the fact your always right!

So if we go back, or maybe you could iignore it again.... So is mercedes not a high end luxury brand not noted for its economy?

Or do you just want to witteron as normal?

Maybe a Peugeot?

I hear they are economical?

But what would I know? I don't pretend to know everything about everything!

It's an E300. I see absolutely no point whatsoever in tearing around in it, however I do enjoy utilising (and maximising) the benefits of the Hybrid system as much as possible, hence the result. On the Motorway it's a mid-40s car, however once you get into traffic it really shows its benefits.

Example, usual drive home from work is about 85% motorway with 15% urban, half of which is free flowing, the other half snarled up traffic. When the traffic is free-flowing I'll see mid-50s however if it's busier I can see high-50s or even early to mid-60s.
