Didn't Tatra do some uber-cool 8 X 8's as support vehicles for the Camel Trophy / Paris-Dakar, that beat about 75% of all the entrants ??
They used ex-military machines iirc .

what about 4matics? where do they fit in?

I was in Toronto last week and was intrigued to notice a couple of E500s, the same as mine but with the 4matic badge on the back.

I remember seeing 4matic on some older E300s and other Mercs over here in the UK before – does anyone know if the 4matic E500 was ever available in the UK?
