What do these letters stand for, &/or represent??

So far I have learned that "E" is "Einspritzung" which is German for Injection,
But why does it appear as E200 & 200E??

Is there a Legend which decodes all the letters used by Mercedes?? this would be very helpful!

Thanks but they only poorly genralise the initials - eg - "E Class:- Sedan, coupe & Wagon", no touring?
Also Wikipedia is user generated which means I could of put forth this info.

I was lead to believe that the "W" in W124 stood for Wagon which in German ment Caridge meaning Car. So then a C124 would be the Coupe & T124 Touring, the estate?


someone must know what each individual letter stands for?
