AMG SEC500 widebody For Sale (1984) on Car And Classic UK
Very poor advert but potentially a nice car. Claims it had a full restoration 1 year ago but no info on what work was done.

I never understood why people only write 3 lines and not even saying much in the brief description:confused:

The former Mercedes Enthusiast feature car, and discussed at length when it was last for sale.

IIRC, there car was suffering from rust in the usual 126 areas.
The engine only had a very basic AMG tune - 272bhp, IIRC.
It's also a shame it's lost it's original black badging on the boot.

Having said all that, it's appears to be a cracking car, not to mention rather rare!

It's a genuine car, I actually saw it when it was undergoing restoration at the SEC-Shop in Kent.

At the time it was having all the rot cut out and repaired properly, it had had new parcel shelf and pretty much most of the metal work from the rear arches backwards repalced and treated - boot floor and wells etc.

I saw it in it's stripped state and the work had been done well (to the standard of Jay's widebody).

I'm not sure what else had been done since (i.e forward for the rear axle!)

It is the real deal though.

Anyone serious about buying this car would get a run down on it's condition from Chas who did the restoration.

I remember talking to Chas about this car at the time, it was all a little peicemeal. In so much as the owner wasn't wanting to do a full refurb and pay the full price.....on a budget if you will.

It's a shame, it has the potnetial to be a belter, and what has been done (fabrication wise) has been done well but not all of it's been done.

It needs an enthusiast owner like Jay or Talbir. Someone that's going to fix it properly.

All that said, it's an AMG car and that makes it worth a few bob if it's a bit of mess due to it's low volume production.
