Hello all,

Going to get my car in for some fluid flushes this month (ABC, Trans, Brake Fluid, rear diff and Coolant) and was just wondering if it would be worth getting the IC pump replaced at the same time.

I read these start to lose a fair bit of power after a year and just wanted your thoughts.

I gather going with the latest version from the dealer is the best bet, if so what is the rough cost of these pumps?

Also considering getting the plugs replaced too, sitting at 79k, is that sensible too?

Sorry if these are daft questions and/or posted in the wrong section. :o

Krgds,

Marty

Worth getting the engine mounts checked, particularly the passenger side which can go around the 80k mark

Thanks for the tip SavMan, I'll request they take a look into them too. :thumb:

Funny you mention this.

I have just changed my IC pump, valve covers gaskets and spark plugs.

I would change the IC pump, if you find that after a couple of hard pulls the supercharger not engaging. So lack of cooling because the IC pump is failing.

Are you still running the original spark plugs?

Had to change the secondary I/c pump on mine too as it was cutting out after a few hard pulls

Sorry for the delay in replying, was away with work all week and getting wi-fi or 3G was near impossible!

I don't think the car is losing power after time, I was getting a consistent 12.8-13sec on the 1/4 mile a few weeks back.

Aside from the five runs on the track, the car is never pushed past 2k/rpm - performance was not why I bought the car. So don't really know about if it disengages or not, I also always have the radio on to drown out any engine noise.

Basically, I just want to get everything all fresh and do a 'stage 0' on it so just wanted to know the essentials required. :)

Your pump sounds fine. Your car will feel physical slow when the IC pump starts to fail.

Have a look at the service history and see whether the spark plugs have been changed.

I do wonder why you bought a CLS55 if you don't use the power and don't like the engine noise!
