Was it me or were the panel gaps on the new 7 series dreadful?

I wouldn't have accepted the car back from an accident repair in that state.
Linky - in particular, the uneven closing gap between the bonnet an the slam panel.

Can't say I really noticed. The design is very 'safe' which is probably a result of the shocker before it. The waft isn't there though and the boot is a really daft shape inside.

What disturbs me more is how cr@p the program is. I find it nearly as annoying as when Tim Vincent was hosting it. 5th Gear is neither informative nor entertaining, and I am so glad that smug little prat VBH got her ass kicked in the rally car.

Top Gear is much better.

I agree with stumpy1 don't like 5th gear, not at patch on TG. What was that test for on the 7 Series??? What a complete waste of time. VBH trying to seem like she knows what she's doing on rallying vs a 17 year old and quite what that muppet Plato was doing in the same room as DC etc i'll never know....

Bring back Top Gear.

I saw a new 7-series this morning. Blink and you'd miss it.

i watch it every week, but it really is a shocker of a program

I don't mind it but they do spend far too long promoting the competition. I noticed the uneven panel gaps in the 7 Series too. Hideous car!

i think a lot of the new 7 series is actually a bit of a backwards step for BMW. They said something similar on FG last night.

Still a very nice car though, but i would choose an W221 over it (but would have to see them both 1st). The E65 7 series blew the W220 to the wind IMHO with the right spec.

5th Gear is McDonalds television

Top Gear is more Gourmet Burger Kitchen

VBH is nasty synthetic ketchup
That thin beardy bloke is pickle that no one wants
Tiff Needel is very old beef, which should not really be sold

but it really is a shocker of a program

Sadly I saw quite a bit of it this week. Time I regret spending in front of the TV.

The review of the Megane was motoring journalism at worst. Slag of the stereotype of the manufacturer, refer to the old model, and then drive on ice for a couple of minutes. Frankly why bother? Waste of time for the presenter and a waste of time for us.

Awful

It was so bad I just had to add to the chorus - but still watched it (on ffwd most of the time though)

the diesel piece was the only half decent (half because they didn't mention MPG, torque, emissions etc) bit but even that is a dead old debate

The rest... I blinked and missed it on 60x speed :D

Taken it off series link - I think there is little hope of anything worthwhile being covered in a worthwhile manner

TG on Dave is a better (if not sadder as I've seen it) bet.

Recorded it and came downstairs at 7.40pm to watch. Pressed PLAY and started to watch the recording. After fast forwarding through adverts, the rallying bit, the Tiff bit and watching the segments I was interested in (7 series and the ROC) I finished watching the recording at 7.55 when the end credits rolled.

There you go - I compressed 1 hour of garbage into 15 minutes of interesting recycling.

This is definitely my preferred way of wathcing 5th Gear.

BTW did anyone notice Bearded Man #2 say "Right" after every feature. Most annoying.

I liked the cameras in the front wings/ wheel arches of the 7 series......

Maybe, just maybe in the future someone will produce a motoring programme that is about cars and not about the presenters.

I don't agree, I went to buy an E66 last year and ended up with W220, the W220 was £1,000 more but a much better car, the guy was selling both and left us with the keys for a couple of hours to decide, E66 felt tinny and not as solid,

Alan

I watch it but often do other things at bits of the prog. Side-view cameras a rear proper useful innovation.

Disagree, nearly bought a 730d vs a 4.4i X5 and the 7 felt very solid, and much plusher inside. I never got round to driving either car and maybe the 220 was better, but on 1st impressions the E65 was more impressive.

Just watched the program and they claim it is the first car with side camera's.

WRONG... when i worked with the launch of the Rolls Royce Phantom drophead and fixedhead some of these had cameras at the front, because the bonnets were so long.

Me too, think the lines on the car make it look Chinese though for some reason...

anyone else notice the topgear mag on the coffee table. Tom Ford writes for the mag.

Correct - the Phantom saloon had them and the camera is mounted under the front number plate, not in the wings like the 7. It does help in the RR as the bonnet is huge!
