Cheers for the help mate. :bannana: :bannana:

Hi,

What was involved in installing this? I have a similar COMAND to the one in the photo so would be interested in finding out how this works.

thanks

Not much at all.First is the Aux lead bought from the dealers £18, then the c connector and 4 pins that Alfie supplied with the comand.I had to cut the plug off the lead as it was different then just wired it into the c connector took about 10min to wire it and less then an hour to install it.I did take a couple of photos as I went along.

Glad to have helped. Well done on getting the AUX input working.

First post! I too want to be a happy penguin!

Greetings all!

Retired to sunny Spain in 2003 and a few mths back acquired a nice mint 2002 C270 CDI. So far so good - but it peeves me just a little that if we wish to use the NAV function we can't at the same time enjoy CD music - as there's only the one CD slot.

Fair enough, we're thinking about splashing out on a 6-CD changer - one that plays MP3 too if poss. Do you know if there is such a gizmo and can I fit it myself? Or even a single player mounted in the glove box might be fine. BTW I was a PC tech for a few years and reasonably tech savvy.

I have recently become aware of the 'aux input' in my glove box - what appears to be a mini-jack socket. Today I tried connecting my Sony Walkman CD/MP3 player to it (using a standard stereo mini-jack connector cable, which I had lying around). But the COMAND unit doesn't detect any Aux Audio Source and certainly not my Sony CD player (or even a small Sony tape player I possess). Is there a proprietary interface I will need to get this going?

Any help on this as welcome as the birds in Spring.

Regards

Gareth

Have you selected the aux input from the SYS menu?

If you have the aux input and your comand was factory fitted, then it should work. Fitting a CD changer is fairly straight forward. What car/model/year is yours?

Thanks Alfie!

You know Alfie, I looked at SYS and saw no audio options but after your amazingly quick reply to my post (for which, muchas gracias) I promptly climbed back in (another feeble excuse to revel in the black leather Avantgarde ambience ) and there it was at the bottom - an unpretentious 'AUX'. Anyway, presto... its instant formation penguins for me too. Ta! (egg on face).

Its a C270 CDI April 2002.

Glad it worked.

The CD changer fits into the glove box and is connected via a D2B fibre cable and a power/wakeup cable. these just need routing through to the back of the comand if they are not already there. Connecting them to the comand is easy with the right pins;) If you decide to go ahead, let me know and I'll tell you which bits you need to get.

Is it just a regular headphones-type plug on the other end of the AUX cable?

I just bought an MP3 player for my daily train journey to work and discovered that I now can't live without the thing! Especially useful for audio books! :)

Will pull the comand out and fit an Aux cable if it's an easy job, part numbers and pics if you have them please chaps! :)

Excellent, thank you!

I have a load of those pins "in stock" from about 4 years ago, I also have a C2 connector plug and plug housing somewhere I think...
